About this opportunity
Read this first: Cameroonian citizens cannot apply. Cameroon is not among Chevening's 204 eligible countries and territories, and citizenship of an eligible country is the gate, not residence. This card is here because roughly fifty other African countries are eligible — including Chad, Nigeria, Gabon, the Central African Republic and Congo — so students with dual nationality or non-Cameroonian citizenship can enter.
Chevening is the UK government's scholarship for people already a few years into a career who intend to go home and lead. It pays for a full one-year master's at a UK university.
The requirement that eliminates most applicants is the work experience: 2,800 hours, roughly two full years, earned after your undergraduate degree. Internships completed before graduation do not count. There is no upper age limit.
The second trap is invisible on the scholarship timeline. Winning at interview is not the end — you must send Chevening an unconditional offer from a UK university by 8 July 2027, and universities only issue those once your English test score is in hand. Applicants who leave IELTS until June find the test dates full.
