About this opportunity
University of the People is an American online university accredited by the DEAC, offering associate, bachelor's and master's degrees in computer science, health science, business administration and education.
It charges no tuition. What you do pay is a USD 60 one-time application fee and an assessment fee each time you take a course - USD 180 for undergraduate courses, USD 430 or USD 490 for the master's programmes. Those fees are payable per course as you go rather than upfront, and the university offers scholarships that can reduce them. Budget roughly USD 2,000 to 2,500 across a full bachelor's.
For a Cameroonian student this is one of the few routes to a recognised American degree without leaving home or paying international tuition. Everything is asynchronous, so you study around work or family and there is no requirement to be online at a fixed hour - useful given electricity and connectivity constraints.
You need to have finished secondary school, be at least 16, and show English proficiency; anglophone Cameroonian schooling generally satisfies this.
Terms start five times a year, so missing this deadline is not fatal. The November term closes on 22 October 2026 and classes begin on 12 November.
